My name is Evan Peters (he/him), and I’m excited to be a part of Peter’s Place RVA as a co-founder and Treasurer of the Board. My experience with recovery started in 2010, and I’m grateful now to be in long-term recovery and sober from substance misuse since 2011. As a cis white male, recovery resources have been extremely accessible to me. As I’ve trudged the road to happy destiny with my BIPOC, LGBTQ, and/or disabled comrades, I’ve become increasingly disillusioned by the lack of accessibility to recovery resources for certain folks. I’m incredibly honored to work for Peter’s Place RVA, and I’m looking forward to being part of a team of folks working towards justice in access for survivors of substance misuse.

I come from a social work background and have considerable experience in housing and program planning. I got sober in 2011, and living in sober houses was a huge part of my first year of recovery.

I was and continue to be privileged to be a part of a recovery community where I feel safe and welcome. I want to do my part to make that not a privilege of a few, but a given for all who seek it.
